and then felt,
as I stood on my upper balcony
this morning...

Faith is ready to play in the Contemporary Showcase...

Here are the Youtube links to the recordings of Faith playing her Contemporary Showcase pieces at home.

Both of the pieces were composed by Canadian women in the 1900's.

The first piece is Prairie Winter - composed by Heather Laliberte in 1994 while travelling in a van from Winkler, Manitoba to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on an extremely cold winter day.

The second piece is Footloose composed by Mary Gardiner (1932 - 2010)

Had to take this... looked ready to make into a puzzle!

Also at Island Lake

S.V. Island Lake
North of Athabasca

The ice was forming right before my eyes!
Wherever it still looks like water, it's actually the rain on the ice.
Later it snowed and now it looks like a big white field.

Picture of the Day 11-10-11

On our way to Athabasca we had to stop to get this quick shot...

it's out of the vehicle window and we were travelling on black ice -

I'm so happy my hubby stopped for me :-)

So even though it's not a totally clear pic - it's cool to see her running.
...
Her calf was following but I couldn't get them both on the pic in such short notice.

It was so funny to watch!

Picture of the Day 10-07-11

Yesterday I was coming home from the Country Store and saw this most amazing sunset...

I love it that you can see the car headlights in this picture.

If you click on the picture, it'll look even better!  ;-)

Picture of the Day 10-06-11

I took this picture the other day but it didn't quite turn out the way I wanted.
I'd really wanted more drops in a row, but they kept dropping off before I could take the picture.

So when Faith was looking for something to do, I gave the picture to her and told her she could 'work'
on it in a photo editing program.  This is what she came up with.  I like it!

My Neighbourhood this Week

I got a phone call from Brian when he was driving home from work.  I know that's against the law now, but if he hadn't called me there would've been another kind of distraction waiting for him :-)  Anyway, he called to say the sunset was absolutely orange and could I see it from our house.  I looked out the window and could barely see anything at all.  So I ran down to the lake and watched an amazing Alberta sunset.... just look!

On my way home from the city yesterday I realized I still needed to take this picture.  It's about 4 kms away from home but I never seem to have my camera when I really want it.  So I dropped Faith off at home, grabbed my camera and went back and was pleased to finally take this picture.  This is the first time in the 5 years we've been living here that there has been a pond in this location, as a matter of fact, last year it was completely dried up.  I think it's important to stop and enjoy the beauty!

The light of the setting sun was shining through the grass.  I'm so glad I could capture this... so beautiful!

Picture of the Day 08-25-11 with some thoughts

Since I started taking pictures in a more determined way, I have discovered that really
there is nothing in creation that doesn't speak/shout of the handiwork of God.
I am never disappointed when I go out to take pictures, but the key is to not have any expectations.
I find if I go outside with my camera and have no expectations, God has an opportunity to really WOW! me.
And He does - He's Good that way.

“Ask the animals, and they will teach you,
or the birds of the air, and they will tell you;
or speak to the earth, and it will teach you,
or let the fish of the sea inform you.

Which of these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this?
In His hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.”
Job 12:7-10

Sunday Meeting Aug. 14, 2011

Brian and Faith led the music at Ministik Community Church today.

Mom snuck in a couple of pictures...

Afterwards, Mom and Dad stopped in for soup, dessert and coffee.
It was so beautiful outside we were able to enjoy our deck.

Saskatoon Season!

The trees are loaded... just starting to ripen.  The harvest is going to be awesome.  After picking and cleaning them I freeze them in 1 cup portions and they last all winter on cereals and in fruit smoothies and some rhubarb saskatoon crumbles.

Today Faith and I went out for a bit and got a small bucket full with so many nearly ready.

I captured a couple of pics on my cell phone.
