Faith's BIG day
Sunday, April 27, 2014
After playing in the Sherwood Park Music Festival Faith got called to not only accept awards but also to play in the Music Festival Gala. To actually play a selection at the Gala is a much coveted honour and Faith was over the moon... even teared up! This is the last festival she will be playing in and we just thought it so fitting for her to be honoured this way after many years of festivals.
At the festival she won 3 awards.
1) $50.00 Piano Solo - Classical/Canadian
2) $100.00 Senior Piano - Eleanor D. McGuire Scholarship - Canadian Composer - Best Overall Performance
3) 150.00 Piano - Tom Spratlin Scholarship - Best Overall Performance - Chopin
She just could not believe it!! As parents, we just loved it... to see our own daughter excel in this way is beyond our wildest dreams.
If you ever have the opportunity to stop by Festival Place in Sherwood Park, check out the music display case. Faith's name is etched in the history of this town - you can see her name several times on trophies there.

A contemplative walk at the lake this morning. A variety of birds chirping, the smell of wet leaves and earth, stillness.
"Be still and know that I am God."

A delightful weekend spent in celebration of my mom's 70th birthday. We headed out to Barrhead on Saturday but first we picked up Auntie along the way. It was so nice being at Mom and Ron's - really like a retreat out there!
Arctic Hare galore on the property*
*The plural form of hare is hare.
Enjoying the sun and the horses
The canes do not depict age in anyway! It was icy - that's all I'm saying :)
Chilling while waiting for the turkey to cook
Beautiful orchids for mom from her thoughtful hubby
